Prebuilt JD Edwards EnterpriseOne IoT Orchestrations are now available to address common use cases for the asset-intensive, manufacturing, and agribusiness industries. Companies can leverage the prebuilt, out-of-the-box orchestrations as models to design and implement custom orchestrations. The orchestrations being released include:

These objects currently include:

  • Grid Formats, Queries
  • One View Reports
  • One View Watchlists
  • EnterpriseOne Pages
  • Composite Application Framework

Industry Focus that Creates Competitive Advantage

JD Edwards continues to invest in functionality that creates a competitive advantage for customers in our focus industries. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 delivers new strategic products for the projects, consumer goods, and manufacturing and distribution industries.

Advanced Job Forecasting delivers key capabilities for project-focused industries, such as engineering and construction to prevent project cost overruns due to lack of detail forecast visibility and to provide more accurate cash flow management throughout the project lifecycle. Advanced Job Forecasting provides project managers with significant new capabilities to capture and audit the expected detail labor and material expenses remaining on a project. The forecast can include anticipated material quantities and material cost changes as well as specific skill sets and pay levels required for remaining job phases. This new product provides several new forecast calculation methods and the ability to create user-defined calculations. Furthermore, users can save and compare multiple forecasts (what-if scenarios) and store audit trails of forecasted versus actual factors.

Outbound Inventory Management optimizes inventory performance and significantly reduces the business complexity for suppliers in the consumer goods, manufacturing and distribution industries providing vendor-managed or consignment inventory services for their customers. Outbound Inventory Management manages the complete VMI/Consignment lifecycle from defining agreements through ordering, shipments, invoicing and replenishments, supporting stronger customer collaboration, reduced customer stock-outs, and improved forecast accuracy. These capabilities result in increased customer loyalty which translates to improved supplier profitability.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Rental Management provides strategic visibility into inventory and equipment availability and supports high levels of customer service while effectively managing revenue and expenses for each rental contract. Rental Management has been enhanced to support more complex global business requirements as well as process automation and simplification.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Work Center Load Review Calendar provides daily, weekly, and monthly calendar views of scheduled work center resources with a real-time view into remaining available capacity. The application displays over and under-capacity conditions in an intuitive graphical format and provides drill-down options to make scheduling adjustments, update work orders, and support planning. This information enables production schedulers to make scheduling decisions and changes more quickly and easily.

One View Financial Statements is a new feature of the One View Reporting for Financials module. This feature allows financial system end-users to create financial statements such as balance sheets and income statements, through a very user-friendly application interface. Pre-built content and case studies will accompany this feature to enable users to quickly come up to speed on the functionality.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Release 9.2 addresses new joint accounting standards for the Recognition of Revenue issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). This new standard is effective for the first quarterly report in the first annual period beginning after December 15, 2017 (for public companies) and after December 15, 2018 (for non-public companies). Organizations may choose to adopt the new standard one year earlier that these dates. The new reporting requirements are extensive and require changes to financial systems and processes to collect the necessary data, process transactions and report—even if the application of the new accounting standard results in no significant change in the reported revenue amounts.

For US based employers, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne has been enhanced to support the Affordable Care Act Employer Shared Responsibility provisions. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne provides features to help define which employees are considered full-time for the purposes of the Affordable Care Act and therefore eligible to receive health coverage. Hours of Service Reporting and Eligibility functionality enables applicable large employers to determine whether employees should be considered full-time and therefore eligible for health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions.

Choice – Your Business. Your Way

The JD Edwards EnterpriseOne platform and products offer an increased number of options for personalization, extension, and co-existence with other applications, including Oracle Cloud applications, to support agile business solutions that respond to customers’ unique business needs. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Release 9.2 provides customers with the choices to run their business their way. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 customers have the opportunity to use a simplified and modern application interface. JD Edwards leverages the Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) to create an intuitive interface while leveraging all existing business rules via the Application Interface Services (AIS) server. JD Edwards has delivered a set of application program interfaces (APIs) to simplify the process of accessing AIS services in the Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF).

To significantly reduce the cost of upgrading their systems to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications 9.2, customers on Applications Release 9.0 Update 2 or Release 9.1 now have the choice to use a Simplified Upgrade process. The new upgrade process identifies and replaces only the objects as delivered by Oracle. The Simplified Upgrade process reduces the time and effort required for retrofitting customizations and testing Applications 9.2.

With Tools Release 9.2, JD Edwards has removed the 10 character restriction for user ID and password to support more robust security authentication processes. This enhancement enables security officers to define complex password rules that align with their security and compliance requirements. User IDs have also been expanded to improve the end-user experience when signing into JD Edwards.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne maintains its position as a leading ERP open-systems platform offering customers a choice of many different technology options to run the product, including a complete vertically integrated Oracle technology stack. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne also provides customers a choice of deployment options such as on-premise or hybrid deployment, private cloud, and public clouds.

Announcing New JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Internet of Things Orchestrator

Announcing New JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Internet of Things Orchestrator and Enhancements for Revenue Recognition, Sales Order Entry Mobile Tablet, and Blend Management

Extending its commitment to the JD Edwards modern enterprise applications, Oracle is announcing our newest product, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Internet of Things Orchestrator, and enhancements for Revenue Recognition Standards, Sales Order Entry Mobile Tablet, and Blend Management.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Internet of Things Orchestrator

With this release, Oracle announces the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Internet of Things (IoT) Orchestrator. This new product enables customers to collect, filter, analyze, and act on real-time data as it is being transmitted by IoT devices. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne customers benefit by eliminating costly manual processes, by reacting to—or avoiding— business disruptions in real-time, and by analyzing historical data for continuous process improvement. The building blocks of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne IoT Orchestrator are:

  • Registration (Cross Reference): Identifies the devices that are authorized to send data to the IoT Orchestrator and associates those devices with data stored in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system, such as equipment number, asset ID, location, business unit, etc.
  • Rules Engine: Establishes criteria and thresholds against which the IoT Orchestrator evaluates incoming device data to invoke the appropriate action based on conditions.
  •  Action (Service Request): Defines the specific JD Edwards EnterpriseOne application form or custom Java program to be invoked as the result of a predefined condition. The IoT Orchestrator passes incoming device data into the form(s) and launches the applications. Any JD Edwards EnterpriseOne form, including customers’ customized forms, can be invoked by the orchestration.

Using these building blocks, business analysts can design orchestrations that tie IoT devices directly to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications, thus eliminating costly, mundane, and error-prone manual input and enabling enterprise operations based on accurate, real-time data. The IoT Orchestrator is available beginning with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools web components 9.1.5.5. It can be used with Application releases 9.0 and 9.1.
For more information, see the JD Edwards Internet of Things Frequently Asked Questions.

Revenue Recognition Standards

With this release, Oracle delivers the initial software updates for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne addressing new joint standards for recognition of revenue issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). This new standard is proposed to be effective for the first quarterly report in the first annual period beginning after December 15, 2016 (for public companies) and after December 15, 2017 (for non-public companies). Note that dates for adoption are still being finalized.

The new reporting requirements are extensive and require changes to financial systems and processes to collect the necessary data—even if the application of the new accounting standard results in no significant change in the reported revenue amounts.

These updates enhance existing processes and add new features to enable users to adopt the new five-step process for revenue recognition:

  1. Identify the contract with the customer.
  2. Identify the separate performance obligations in the contract.
  3. Determine the transaction price.
  4. Allocate the transaction price to the separate performance obligations.
  5. Recognize revenue as separate performance obligations are satisfied.

These changes affect all JD Edwards EnterpriseOne solutions that recognize revenue including Accounts Receivable, Sales Order Management, Advanced Contract Billing, and Contract and Service Billing.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Sales Order Entry Mobile Tablet

Enhancements to the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Sales Order Entry for Mobile Tablet enable your sales force to create sales orders on the go, whether on the sales floor or in the field. Now the Sales Order Entry tablet application can interface with third-party peripheral devices of choice to enable credit card payment processing at the point of sale. Once the sales order is accepted, the existing pre-payment functionality is used to complete the payment and order processing downstream. To include these custom interfaces, companies need to extend the Sales Order Entry tablet application using the Mobile Application Archive file through the Oracle Mobile Application Framework.

In addition, this release makes the Sales Order Entry tablet application available for Android tablet devices. With these enhancements, field sales forces can further maximize productivity, sales, and profits.JD Edwards Enterprise Mobile Applications are available on Apple’s App Store, Google Play, and as Archives on the Update Center.

Additional JD Edwards Application Enhancements

  • With this release, Blend applications that trace lot attributes throughout the wine making process have been further optimized for performance and scalability.Optimized performance in Blend applications improves traceability and increases user productivity.
  • Health and Safety Incident Management has been simplified in two ways. A simple one-click method of printing on-demand copies of incidents is now available and One View for Health and Safety Incident Management has been enhanced to make it easier to view safety statistics for a specific establishment, company, business unit, project or contractor.
  • Application Interface Services (AIS) Client Java API simplifies the development of user-friendly applications with Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) or other java development kits.
  • Localizations for Argentina

“Organizations that rely on successfully completed projects to create value for their business need an enterprise-wide solution that connects key project-based business processes that are currently fragmented across their ERP and PPM systems,” said Joel Koppelman, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle’s Primavera Global Business Unit. “The Oracle PPM Integration Packs bridge the gap between ERP and project management to deliver true enterprise PPM for the first time, helping ensure projects adhere to committed budgets and timeframes.”

“Leviton Manufacturing makes a very diverse line of products including electrical devices and data center products that we sell globally. We upgraded to the latest version of the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 to support our service business with change management, purchasing, accounts payable, and our internal IT help desk,” said Bob MacTaggart, CIO of Leviton Manufacturing. “We consolidated seven Web sites that we used to host individually onto iStore. In addition, we run a site, using the Oracle E-Business Suite configurator, pricing and quoting for our sales agents to do configuration work. This site can now generate a complete sales proposal using Oracle functionality; we actually generate CAD drawings - the actual drawings themselves - based on configuration results. It used to take six to eight weeks to generate these drawings and now it's all done online in an hour to two hours by our sales agents themselves, totally self-service. It does everything they need. From our point of view that is a major business success. Not only is it a very cool, innovative application, but it also puts us about two years ahead of our competition.”
“As a new PeopleSoft customer, Navigant Consulting has been very pleased with our decision to deploy PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1. We have also been happy with the quality of the 9.1 applications we are implementing,” said Julia Manson, director of applications, Navigant Consulting. “We were in the middle of a net-new 9.0 implementation but decided to extend our project timeline to implement 9.1. We feel we made the right choice because we were able to eliminate quite a few customizations due to the functionality improvements in the 9.1 applications. Also, our end users are appreciating the intuitive interface of the PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 applications.”
“Our upgrade to version 9.0 of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (from Xe) was smooth and relatively straightforward. We remain impressed and pleasantly surprised with the under-the-covers investments in the technology foundation. Boston Properties values a partner like Oracle that continues to invest its R&D dollars in enhancements that enable our IT staff to be more responsive and our operations more efficient,” said James J. Whalen, Jr., senior vice president, chief information officer, Boston Properties.
"As one of America's premier foodservice distributors with more than 250,000 customers, U.S. Foodservice required a CRM system that could match our size, continuing growth, and ambitious goals," said Bridget Warns, senior director, Customer Engagement and Integration, U.S. Foodservice. "Last year we chose Oracle CRM On Demand to build an entirely new CRM implementation for close to 6,000 users. The ease-of-use, speed-to-market and deployment, robust reporting and integration capabilities in Oracle CRM On Demand made our decision a simple one. We are extremely impressed with Oracle's commitment to their customers, and the unparalleled track record of Applications Unlimited shows that we made the right choice.”
“Hill International manages very complex construction projects all over the world, in which we face hurdles such as coordinating multiple contractors and resources. If changes to schedules, delivery of materials or other factors cause one phase or part of a project to veer off schedule, we need to be able to minimize the effects of those changes on other phases of construction – and ensure that we do not lose time or money as a result ,” said Shawn Pressley, vice president of project management systems and development, Hill International, Inc. “We have been able to work efficiently by implementing and using an integrated technology approach that includes Oracle’s Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management, Oracle’s Primavera Contract Management and Oracle’s Primavera Risk Analysis. These Primavera solutions enable us to look ahead and see what we can expect as a result of changes, and then work out a solution to maximize efficiency and budgets.”
