Concept
The JD Edwards Upgrade Assessment is a comprehensive analysis of the customer's J.D. Edwards environment and user community resulting in specific courses of action for upgrade with recommendations to enhance functionality, boost performance, and improve the user skill base.
Objective
The investigation focuses on both the effective use of technology, and whether the technology employed is meeting the current and/or future needs of the organization. Several process areas are targeted depending on which JD Edwards modules are in use. Technical implementation issues are also addressed. System software configuration, software limitations, user access, and training issues are used to develop an action plan to close the gap between the current situation and original objectives.
Duration
The typical high-level JD EdwardsUpgrade Assessment can be completed 2-4 week period. two weeks are required at the client site by a senior professional, with two weeks allotted for deliverable preparation. A detailed JD EdwardsUpgrade Assessment typically takes twice as long.
Deliverables

A Detailed Map to Guide You
We leverage the experience gained from years of continuous success to ensure your success. Using our six-step methodology, you MAA project manager and team of industry expert’s work with you through each stage:
Implementation Phases
1. Project Initiation
In this phase, essential preparation for a successful project is done: discovery information is gathered, define project scope, prepare a project plan, form a project team, and set up a steering committee. Finally, you make a formal announcement of the project kick-off to the entire company.
2: Analysis
In this phase roles and responsibilities are defined, “AS-IS” business processes are identified, “TO-BE” business process are defined, system configuration is reviewed, prototype planning is discussed, define technical architecture, and legacy data is reviewed
3: Design
Based on our analysis we design the system configuration for specific business process, design additional development requirements, and design conversion strategies and plans. Next a
“Conference Room Pilot” is conducted, which ensures that issues are resolved and system configuration meets business requirements.
4: Development
If enhancements were identified a work plan is established for target development items to adjust for each module and execute actual work in order to change the processes provided as standards by JD Edwards to meet requirements of this system.
Integration testing is also performed to determine the reliability of the enhancements and interfaces. This also allows the developers to perfect the final system.
5: Implementation
A final integrated system test is performed to determine readiness and ensure all business requirements have been covered. Cut over planning is reviewed, migrated development and conversion programs to production environment, review system administration tasks, develop user manuals and conduct final training, and roll out new system to the entire company according to plan.
6: Project Completion
In this phase, the project team and the customer close the project, announce the official closing of the project to the entire company, and analyze the project outputs. Developers evaluate and arrange enhanced programs accordingly.
Working globally with JD Edwards customers for over twenty (20) years, while crossing various industries, has given us an extensive depth of knowledge and unmatched expertise in EnterpriseOne, OneWorld (XE) and World software. In fact many of our associates worked directly with JD Edwards.
But before initiating the JD Edwards upgrade, you need to evaluate your current infrastructure to make sure existing hardware and systems configurations will be compatible with the latest software version. If you don’t diligently map out the time, equipment, cost, and resource requirements for the software upgrade, you may encounter unexpected roadblocks and unresolved system issues that impede an on-time, on-budget upgrade.
Mitchell & Associates Upgrade Planning delivers a systematic approach for transitioning your existing World or OneWorld Xe environment to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1. Our experienced consultants address the upgrade from a staged perspective, getting current systems prepared for the upgrade and providing a comprehensive road map that’s ready for your implementation team to execute. (Also see our upgrade express page)
First, we conduct a solution assessment. One of our technology specialists visits your site and examines your end-to-end environment—from existing hardware and service packs to any customized code your IT teams may have integrated. This system analysis offers a clear picture of your IT systems and gives us the fundamental information we need to recommend the right approach for transitioning your platform to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1.
Next, we facilitate an JDE upgrade planning workshop where we review the results from your system assessment as well as our proposed upgrade strategy. During this session, we conduct an informal gap analysis, reviewing the state of your current JDE environment and pin-pointing the changes that need to be made prior to commencing with the JDE upgrade.
We also provide you with a detailed project plan—complete with suggested project team members, critical milestones, and time frames—that estimates the number of hours and costs associated with the recommended upgrade plan. This way, you know upfront what’s in store for your JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1 upgrade and can begin communicating the estimated financial and time implications across the enterprise.
